THE EMBODIED ACTOR

Connecting the imagination, body, and voice is essential for the actor. This class, designed by Sarah Tolan-Mee, welcomes actors into their bodies.

Through a series of exercises that bridge the gaps between mind, heart, and body, students reconnect with their embodied selves to bring their entire physical expression to their work. Guided by the work of legendary teacher Moni Yakim, who has trained some of our foremost actors - including Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, Adam Driver, Jessica Chastain, Anthony Mackie, and Oscar Isaac - this class guides students to integrate their imagination and body so that they may live fully, powerfully, and believably in their acting.

If you’ve ever had trouble “getting out of your head," feel unable to act on your impulses in a scene, or are excited to more fully embody the roles you play, this class is your next step.

Required: Completion of ASC's Core Level 3 course, or equivalent training as determined by the ASC office.
