INTIMACY TOOLS FOR ACTORS: AN INTRODUCTION TO THE WORK

This one-day workshop is designed for beginning and intermediate-level actors seeking practical tools to navigate intimate material with confidence and care.

We will focus on recognizing and communicating personal boundaries, advocating for your needs in rehearsal and on set, and approaching vulnerable scenes with clarity and agency.

Through body-based exercises, movement, reflection, and guided partnered work, you'll practice identifying physical and emotional boundaries, working with consent as an ongoing process, and using trauma-informed approaches in rehearsal. You'll also learn grounding tools that help you stay present and connected during challenging scenes.

We'll spend time demystifying the role of the Intimacy Coordinator: exploring what an IC does, what to expect when one is present, and how to work with them clearly and collaboratively as an actor.

This workshop builds a foundation you can return to throughout your training and professional work. The goal is to support both your artistry and your well-being.

You'll leave with concrete tools you can use right away and a stronger sense of self-trust in intimate storytelling.

Sydney (Renee Cox) protected everyone's peace of mind, very authentic to the work and responses. She didn't necessarily have the answer to all questions, but she was able to approach every hypothetical with grace and respect from a human perspective.

Syndey is a phenomenal listener, and totally sensible in answering pretty hard-hitting questions. Her approach is completely trauma-informed, and I felt really cared for and safe to immerse myself in the class. During the Intimacy Workshop, she led exercises to demonstrate how to apply tools in incredibly low-stakes but highly impactful ways, and was never out of ideas for other tools if the ones we were working with felt weird or difficult for someone. One of my fav acting classes I've ever taken!

— Workshop Student

I loved learning that intimacy (Intimacy Workshop) not only includes physical contact but also cultural and other aspects of respect in the experience. So important!
