MASTERS THEATRE AUDITION WORKSHOP WITH LAUREN PORT, C.S.A.

We are absolutely thrilled to once again offer this professional-level workshop. Taught by Goodman Theatre's Casting Director, Lauren Port, this workshop is designed for seasoned actors wishing to fine-tune their theatre self-tapes and increase their confidence with in-person callbacks. By walking you through the audition process focused on a single role, from self-tape to in-person callback, Lauren will illuminate those elements of a successful self-tape and the importance of how one shows up in the room. 

This is a great workshop for actors to better understand the new normal of theatre auditions. Lauren is a strong advocate for actors and brings her experience casting numerous projects to her teaching. In addition to her work in theatre, Lauren has cast Film and Television. She is a five-time Artios Award winner, a recipient of the 40th Annual Media Access Awards, and a proud member of the Casting Society of America.

Pre-Class 1 - Actors tape their self-tape audition 

Class #1: The Self-Taped Audition     THURSDAY, JAN 14th, 1:00p-3:30p
Prior to Day 1, actors will submit a self-tape of an assigned audition role. During the workshop, Lauren will review each tape and discuss what is successful and what elements might be improved. Each actor will work with Lauren on adjustments.

Class #2: The In-Person Callback      TUESDAY, JAN 19th, 1:30p-4:30p
Day 2 will consist of a "call back" of that same role. Lauren will then tailor the conversation around how one shows up in the room if the self-tape was what led to the callback.

Pre-Class 3 - Actors re-tape self-tape   TUESDAY, JAN 26th, 1:30p-3:30p

Class #3: Review and Compare
After Class #2, having worked on their feet with feedback and adjustments, actors will self-tape their scene again. During Class #3, a shorter 2-hour class, the class will review the initial tapes alongside the second tape and discuss how to find deeper, theater-based work in a self-tape. 
 

Required: Strong professional acting background. Admission is determined by headshot, resume, and self-tape audition.

• If interested, please make sure your Headshot / Resume is up to date in your account. 
• Create and submit your self-tape of a monologue (not a reel) to info@actingstudiochicago.com. Please use YouTube or Vimeo (if you have an account).
• All submissions are due no later than Wednesday, Nov. 25th at 5pm.
• On or about Dec. 2nd, we will send invitations to either the workshop or to the waitlist.
